For those of you who are highly visual, there is a great video HERE, and the playing is also superb. I may switch the time stamps to this video because it’s so useful to be able to see the instruments while you are learning.
Instruments:
- Woodwinds: piccolo, flute, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in B flat and A and 2 bassoons
- Brass: 4 horns in F, 2 trumpets in C, 3 trombones (2 tenors and 1 bass) and tuba
- Percussion: timpani, bass drum, cymbals, tambourine, triangle, snare drum, woodblock, xylophone, castanets, tamtam, and whip
- Strings: harp, first and second violin, viola, cello, and double bass.
I know the different musical families but have difficulty recognizing the sound of individual instruments. This recording, along with your list above, is a great way to help me learn about the instruments.
I’ve heard version of this where a voice announces what the instruments are, and others where we just hear the music. If you are trying to get familiar with the sound of all the instruments, how nice it would be to have only the music, but still some way of knowing the name of each instrument. You have given us exactly that here! I love the music, and I like the learning part.
