Schumann: Knight of the Rocking Horse

Schumann’s “Knight of the Rocking Horse” is one of the shortest pieces in his “Scenes from Childhood”. It is pretty obvious that this is about a child rocking on a rocking horse. Because this child is it imagining himself a knight I think we can assume that Schumann had a young boy in mind because of the time period in which he lived.

But I don’t want to keep the concept limited to only boys.

I don’t think anyone will have any doubt about why I picked the pictures I chose as appropriate. I never know how hard it will be to find enough pictures or how easy it will be to make them, but these rocking horse pictures were really easy to find and then link to the music. Thank goodness for that because this piece is not much longer than 30 seconds.
