Paul Williams and Kenny Ascher were hired by Jim Henson to write the songs for The Muppet Movie. They started with Kermit’s opening number. That song, “The Rainbow Connection,” would become a signature ballad for the Muppets. I arranged it some time during the last year, and a few of my students have already learned it.
The Muppets are a group of puppets and costume characters created by Jim Henson.

A Muppet is any of the puppets built by the Jim Henson Workshop. You know these puppets mostly from “The Muppet Show” and from the Sesame Street characters. Over time the Muppets became famous, and I believe they are now well-known in many places around the world other than the United States.
Here are the words:
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we’ve been told, and some choose to believe it
I know they’re wrong, wait and see
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me

I listened again. I’m still working on this piece.
I love this piece. It is hard work to play it but worth it.
I listened again.
I love this piece and I would love to play it.
Vaya! I love it; can we start playing it on Wednesday???
The song is peaceful as the others have also said, though it isn’t the type of song I’d personally listen to nor play.
Peaceful piece to fall asleep to and I mean that in a good way.
A very joyous and light piece. Or in this case, I should say “peace”.
I love rainbow conection, the kermit the frog version at least, and it’s nice to see it here. 🙂
This is such a sweet little piece. It always has a way of making me happy when I hear it. Thank you for the recording, it’s delightful.
