Night’s Shining Peace

“Night’s Shining Peace” is a short selection from “In Southern Shores” by Walter Carrol.

“In Southern Shores” is one of three sets of short pieces written by Carroll for his daughter, and each of these sets contains around 10 compositions. I recorded all three sets in their entirety, but not all of the selections in any of these sets totally satisfy me. I would say that Carroll was at his best when composing his slower, more thoughtful creations.

I’m changing direction.

At this time I am concentrating on presenting all of these slower selections one by one in the hope that more students will become curious and will wish to explore the music. This is really fine piano writing, and it is not technically demanding. I wasn’t sure which pictures to pick for this piece, so I chose anything that seemed peaceful to me and that could be loosely connected to night-time.
