4 – The Death Star Theme

FRIDAY, January 31, 2020

The Death Star motif is a piece written by John Williams for the A New Hope soundtrack. It represents the Death Star. It was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra in 1977.

After a long period of disuse, the theme reappeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as Grand Moff Tarkin and Director Krennic observe the completion of the Death Star’s superlaser. The theme also appears in Solo: A Star Wars Story, as the Millennium Falcon encounters an Imperial Star Destroyer while fleeing from Kessel (“Reminiscence Therapy”).
