Scat singing…
I’m bringing this back again from around a year ago. Some of you have heard it, many have not.
The term “scat singing” refers to vocal improvisation that uses made up syllables to express the rhythmic drive of what is being invented on the spot.
What Ella does with this tune is “vocal bebop”. There has never been a greater vocalist in jazz. And she references Ornithology, a jazz standard by Charlie Parker that improvises on the chords to “How High the Moon.”
I don’t know one top musician who is not blown away by her talent. Pure genius.

I really liked this one it just puts you in a good mood and really up beat.
I’ve always admired Ella Fitzgerald; recordings of her never cease to impress me. I could only imagine how much improvisation and talent is required for a good scat piece.
I like this song.
I listened to Parker’s Ornithology first, and I think the scat takes off on that part – awesome. Ella Fitzgerald has always been one of a kind.
I listened.
I’m not a top musician but I think she was marvelous.
The lady was always gold and remains so. 😉
